Queensland Youth Orchestra 3 (QYO3)
Queensland Youth Orchestra 3 has 80 members ranging in age from 10 to 19 years. Under conductor Bradley Voltz, the orchestra performs a variety of repertoire including classical works and medleys from musicals arranged for symphony orchestra. Popular works include Sibelius’ Finlandia and selections from Phantom of the Opera, Romeo and Juliet and Carmen. During 2016 QYO3 performed repertoire such as Sibelius’ Finlandia, Tchaikovsky’s Marche Slave, John Williams, arr. Cluster Star Wars, Mussorgsky’s Hopak, as well as the World Premiere of Alexander Voltz’s Fanfare for Clarinet & Orchestra. During the weekly rehearsals, tutorials and camp, the musicians are taught the essential skills to play and perform in a symphony orchestra.

“This is my third year in QYO. The music is great because it’s more challenging than at school, and I get to play with fantastic musicians and make new friends from around Brisbane. The tutorial sessions are fun and really help us to improve our skills and to click as a section. QYO helps me extend my musical range and gives me the abilities that I would not have today if I had not been part of it.”
