Alumni Orchestra

The QYO Alumni Orchestra has formed for two major concerts over the past decade: December 2002 and December 2006. On each occasion a 145-member orchestra under the direction of John Curro AM MBE performed at the QPAC Concert Hall to a large audience. The 2002 concert featured Mahler’s 1st Symphony and the 2006 concert featured Holst’s The Planets.

In December 2007, a smaller alumni orchestra was formed for a successful concert at the Old Museum Concert Hall. The major work on that occasion was Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.

In December 2010 or 2011, it is hoped that a large alumni orchestra will again perform a major concert at QPAC. Planning is currently underway, with an announcement due by March 2010.
