Wind Ensemble music camp in Watson Park
Camp report by WE administrator Elaine Earl
“This year’s Wind Ensemble Camp at Watson Park was hard work as usual, but it was also the most enjoyable camp too.
After arriving over an hour late due to Friday night traffic, it was straight into dinner before rehearsals began. On the first night there was no time to socialise as the rehearsal did not finish until well after 10:30pm – so a nice easy night for all our lovely volunteers.
Saturday saw 10 tutors arrive and gave all our ensemble members so much assistance that when rehearsals resumed in the afternoon the change was incredible and the music was fantastic…well done everyone.
Our organised social event was a scavenger hunt finding objects using the alphabet A to Z – this proved to be hilarious with our winning team scoring a huge box of chocolates. On reflection, the team that found “George the Vacuum” deserved a prize for the most observant! The winners are pictured here.
Our conductor is a master of his trade – but also became a jack of all trades, repairing Kaitlin’s saxophone – ably assisted by Kirsty.
Thank you to everyone who made this camp a success, especially to all the players, your behavior was impeccable and you should be proud of this as well as your hard work over many long hours.”
