MAHLER Symphony No. 1 ‘Titan’

The Prelude to Die Meistersinger is one of Wagner’s most popular works, demonstrating his genius for orchestration and counterpoint. The magnificent mezzo soprano Xenia Puskarz Thomas joins the orchestra in a selection of Mahler’s inspired song settings of German folk poetry, Des Knaben Wunderhorn. “My first symphony will be something of which the world has never heard the like before” wrote Mahler of this youthful masterpiece, encompassing a vast spectrum of musical ideas, emotions and passion.
