Junior String Ensemble One Camp

JSE1 Camp 2025

Wow!  What a camp!

First up, a huge shout out and congratulations to all the Children.  Over 13 hours of solid rehearsals and tutorials across less than 45 Hours. That is around 7 weeks’ worth of rehearsals in two days!  And the ability of group to now truly play as a cohesive ensemble shows it!

The effort, focus, resilience and diligence of the children, especially when they were all exhausted by the end, was amazing to witness.

To see these astonishing players snap into action with incredible focus and skill and then back into our fun-loving children at break time, then straight back again.  Words aren’t enough for how impressed and proud we were of the children. All the parent helpers couldn’t stop talking about it.  It is truly a testament to the children, and they should all be incredibly proud of their achievements.

There was plenty of fun and smiles to be had as well, with the children enjoying the camp facilities including, ping pong, swimming, beach volleyball, card games and getting to know new friends.  A cheeky late-night cabin visit or two (sorry kids, the late night parental police were on duty) as well as some crazy games on Saturday night.

We would also like to thank the children for their exceptional and respectful behavior at camp.  They made looking after them a pleasure.  We already miss hanging out with them all.

A massive thank you to all the Parent Helpers who volunteered their time over the weekend.  Everyone’s individual skills all came together to make the weekend a fun, safe and smooth-running camp.   I’m sure they all agree though, it didn’t feel like work at all. It was a privilege to get to spend time with and support our wonderful children.

Thank you Meible, Evalyn, Sasaka, Sayaka, Michiko, Catherine, Bella, Phil, Matt and Amanda.

Thank you to the 5 professional tutors who gave up their Saturday afternoon, some at late notice to come and teach the children and pass on their skills and advise.  The children raved about you all that afternoon.

Thank you, Theo, Amy, Evalyn, Tamara and Sophia.

Also thank you to the background QYO Staff, a lot goes into preparing these camps. Thank you, Louise, Brianna, Felicity & Amanda (and everyone who put the hidden work in).

A HUGE thank you to our conductor (extraordinaire) Mr. Chen Yang.  We are so incredibly lucky to have such an experienced, passionate and kind mentor for our children.
