It is with great sadness that QYO advises that John Curro AM MBE has passed away, aged 86. Mr Curro was admitted to hospital on Wednesday morning 6 November and passed away in the afternoon.

As the QYO Founder (1966), Director of Music and Conductor of the Queensland Youth Symphony, John Curro inspired many thousands of musicians and music lovers. His impact on Australia's orchestral and music education sectors has been extraordinary. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the Curro family.

There was a private family funeral and a memorial service was held on Sunday 22nd December.
