Ezekiel Jones wins at 2018 ADRS

While Winx may have been eyeing off her 28th consecutive win in Melbourne on the 6th of October, Ezekiel (Zeke) Jones QYO2 bassoon section principal at age 11 was about to score his own treble at the 2018 National ADRS competition in the same city. This day saw Zeke awarded a first in the Senior section playing a cut version of Danzi's Bassoon Concerto movement No. 3. The judges commented on the difficult task they faced in awarding prizes due to the excellent performances on the day, however, Zeke's maturity of playing as well as his musicality won them over. The following day Zeke managed his treble by placing first in both the Intermediate and Baroque sections. Zeke played Senaille's Allegro Spiritoso from memory in the Intermediate section and Galliards Sonata No 3 1st and 2nd movements in the Baroque section, which for Zeke was one of the highlights of the competition. After all it isn't every day that one gets to be accompanied by a harpsichord and certainly not by the beautiful playing of Priscilla Taylor. While Zeke is only 11 he attributes much of his success to the expert guidance and tutelage of the Mussons: Peter and Joanna. Zeke looks forward to another great year with QYO and perhaps outperforming Winx in the long run.
