QYS Concert One

Congratulations to the Queensland Youth Symphony members for an outstanding start to their 2018 Concert Series. Audience members were treated to a diverse program of repertoire including Respigni's Pines of Rome and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. The orchestra colaborated with the Brisbane Chorale to present Polenc's celebrated work Gloria.

The concert also featured six members from the QYS percussion section, performing two contemporary pieces for percussion ensemble that carried across the Concert Hall. With over 60% of the musicians new members of the Orchestra, the collaborative musicianship displayed is a huge achievement and we look forward seeing it blossom over the year.

An extra special thank you to our team of volunteers who made the concert possible: stage manager Noel Smith; Assistant stage managers Tim Goodwin, Chris and Nancy Elvin and Greg Lloyd; Librarian Victoria Whiting; and our new Administrators Mike and Jane Bernays.
